Big ups to everybody for making my 35th birthday party a night to remember. Special thanks to my friends who flew in from out of town, and DJs Samo, Ty G. (HVW8) and Jega for keeping the crowd moving. Lastly, lots and lots of love to Jana and Kinsey for letting us hijack BLK/MRKT Gallery for the night! Thanks, thanks, and thanks!
We grabbed dinner with Robin and Doug at Blue Marlin on Sawtelle to brainstorm cheerleader-ninja movie ideas and everything cyborgs. Underneath these dimpled smiles are two mischief makers. When they're not making games, they're making trouble! Hah.
Man it was a super rad day! We hosted our fifth annual post E3 "Missed My Flight" BBQ in Venice. Lots of friends from all industries turned up and as usual it was full of food, fun, family, and friends. Big love to all who came and big ups to Julian and Mary for letting us crash their home.
There is something very decadent about having breakfast at the Viceroy in Santa Monica. The lavish contemporary decor, the heated cabanas, and the very calm oceanside aura feels something more akin to a European holiday. Kim's visit from Seattle allowed us to linger awhile before kick starting another day in Los Angeles. I've got to remember to schedule more breakfast meetings here.
Team area/code was in town for a minute. We barbecued at Team BB's and lots of sarcasm and laughter was flung around between bites of burgers and dogs. It was good to hang out with the New York tech/games posse.
Blogger and all around cute-as-a-button Irish lass Claire's visiting from New York City. We dragged her out for a family-style dinner at French fave, Monsieur Marcel at the Farmers Market. She graciously picked up the tab (thanks again, bub). Visitors rule!
February 3, 2007 - 9:59 p.m. - West Los Angeles, CA
Dinner with musician Aloe Blacc, gallerist Janet Levy and Trace Magazine Founder and EIC, Claude Grunitzky. Much of the evening was spent looking at art, eating fine Japanese food and discovering one another.
Good day, LA. First stop. Visit the Mackey Apartments by Rudolf M. Schindler, built in 1939. Thank you Sandra and Matias for hosting us! Second stop. Visit Dunsmuir Flats by Gregory Ain, built in 1937. Third stop. Visit A+D Museum's West Coast Residential exhibit. Last stop. Cafe Midi lunch.
We spent the whole day with our future-in-law family, the Knutson-Hos in Orange County. Kjartan is the newest and most welcomed addition. If he's anything like his parents, he's going to turn out to be 1) trouble 2) super rad or 3) all of the above!
