The second film directed by Hayao Miyazaki's son Gorō Miyazaki, the film is scheduled to be released on July 16, 2011 in Japan. The screenplay is by Hayao Miyazaki and Aoi Teshima, who sang the theme song for the film "Tales from Earthsea", will provide the score for this movie.

Korea's Got Talent: Choi Sung-Bong

Warning! Tearjerker alert! Check out Korean orphan Choi Sung-Bong's performance on Korea's Got Talent. There is no way a person can watch this video and not shed a few tears for this boy. And that's before he even starts singing. His story is heart wrenching. I hope he's the real deal.

Everyone's saying Choi Sung-Bong may be the next Susan Boyle. Good luck, young man! May you go very far in this competition and more importantly, may you find love and family and go farther in life.

Giant Robot: Artist Friends Series - Ako Castuera

Ako Castuera is a painter, sculptor, and textile artist. For Realms (art exhibition at Giant Robot 2 LA), she has turned her focus to work on paper with a variety of media, primarily using watercolor and gouache. The works continue her ongoing interest in land, the life within it, and the life it sustains. "Suburban tracts sprawl over hills and are at once picturesque, parasitic, and fragile. They coexist with dinosaur like animal forms that suggest prehistoric life," she says. "Dinosaurs have always inspired awe and fed fantasies of the past. Their extinction forces contemplation of the future, of what's in store for the land, animals, and humans all." Ako studied at CCA, and is based in Los Angeles where she works as a writer/storyboard artist on the animated television show, Adventure Time.

"Rising Sun" is an 18" by 24" two-color screen print on archival 270gsm environmentally-certified print making paper. The artwork features a high-gloss white ink and red ink on a bright white environmentally-certified paper. This unsigned edition will be available between March 15th and March 29th, 2010. $25 dollars from each print sold will be donated to the International Red Cross' relief efforts in Japan.

"Rising Sun" is an accompaniment to Jesse LeDoux's two-color "Exit Strategy" print. With a complimentary color scheme, "Rising Sun" features all new artwork.

This print looks terrible as a jpeg and incredible in person. From a distance, it is a simple black dot on a plain white background. However, as you move closer, details start to appear. At 10' away, you will begin to see the glossy face in the black dot. At 3', a world opens up to you in the white field. The black dot continues to draw you in and rewards you with a new universe to explore.
