The Students For Haitian Aid (SFHA) club would like to invite you to attend our first annual fundraiser to benefit the Pwoje Espwa Sud orphanage in Les Cayes, Haiti.
Since 1998, when Pwoje Espwa was founded by a man named farther Marc Boisvert, the orphanage has housed, fed and cared for over 600 impoverished children, and provided educational and vocational services to more than 2,200. However, in the context of the 2010 earthquake, the current instability of the country and international financial turmoil, private donations have plummeted to new lows. This, in accompaniment with an influx of children, will force the orphanage to cut back on the most basic necessities, namely the two bowls of high protein rice and beans allotted to each child every day.
Our club, SFHA, brings together students and other members of our community in order to help institutions such as Pwoje Espwa in their long-term relief efforts to bring hope, as well as basic sustenance, to Haiti. This is why we have decided to host this event and we encourage you all to come and support us and the children of Haiti!
The schedule for the event goes as follows:
6:30 – 7:15 PM --- Cocktails and hors d’oeuvres; an opportunity to meet members of the orphanage; silent auction begins
7:15 – 7:30 PM --- SFHA presidents and club speak
7:30 – 7:45 PM --- Video about the orphanage
7:45 – 8:00 PM --- Guest speaker from the orphanage speaks
8:00 – 9:15 PM --- Drinks and dessert; final time to bid on silent auction; enjoy guest entertainment with The Madison Square Gardeners – a terrific band!
9:15 – 9:30 PM --- Silent auction winners announced
