ZieherSmith presents a group exhibition featuring vigorous paintings and works on paper by Melissa Brown, Tomoo Gokita, Trenton Doyle Hancock, Kirk Hayes, Keegan McHargue and Gary Panter.
Melissa Brown received her MFA from Yale University. She has had solo exhibitions at Canada, New York, Bellwether Gallery, New York and Kenny Schachter, Rove Projects, London. Brown lives and works in Brooklyn.
Japanese artist Tomoo Gokita has shown at Bill Brady/ATM Gallery, New York and Taka Ishii Gallery, Tokyo and had work featured at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Rome, Deitch Projects, New York, Peres Projects, Berlin, and the Pera Museum, Istanbul. He lives and works in Tokyo.
In 2010, Trenton Doyle Hancock’s work was shown at the Dallas Museum of Art and the Museum of Contemporary Art, Cleveland. He has also previously shown at the Olympic Sculpture Park, Seattle Art Museum, James Cohan Gallery, New York, and Dunn and Brown Contemporary, Dallas. His work is in the permanent collections of the Baltimore Museum of Art, the Brooklyn Museum of Art, the Museum of Modern Art, New York, and the Whitney Museum of Art, New York. Hancock lives and works in Houston.
