Monster-artist, Pete Fowler's offering a free mp3 download from Brazilian DJs/producers Monsters at Work for "Magic Morning," off Fowler's new release, A Psychedelic Guide To Monsterism Island.

Well-known for designing the artwork for the Super Furry Animals, Fowler's A Psychedelic Guide to... surrounds his animated Monsterism Island series and contains original compositions, ranging from monstrous rock fry ups to electronic exotica via psychedelic folk and spooky krautrock. The album features Gruff Rhys (Super Furry Animals), Jerry Dammers, The Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain (Peter Brooke-Turner), The Future Sound of London (Brian Dougans, Gary Cobain), Luke Vibert, Circulus, The Advisory Circle and Wolf People to name but a few.

Regency Arts Press Ltd. is pleased to announce the publication of Disembodied Archetypes, a collaborative artist's book by Tamy Ben-Tor and Miki Carmi.  This is the first publication in 2X, Regency Arts Press Ltd.'s new series of collaborative books by two artists. 

Tamy Ben-Tor works in performance and video; Miki Carmi is a painter.  As a married couple, their ideas and processes feed off each other and germinate in each other's work, through a variety of overlaps and interchanges.  Disembodied Archetypes is a dissection and - being an artwork collaboratively made - recorded testimony of their separate yet often cross-pollinating artistic practices.  Disembodied Archetypes consists of notes, texts, snapshots, historical evidence, translations, diagrams, Old Master paintings, family photographs, studies, and a myriad of other materials that, when strung together, reveal the symbiosis and constant reinforming that takes place between the work of these two artists.

'Reef', an interactive installation at Storefront for Art and Architecture by LA-based architects Rob Ley and Joshua Stein, investigates the role emerging material technology can play in the sensitive reprogramming of architectural and public space. Shape Memory Alloys (SMAs), a category of metals that change shape according to temperature, offer the possibility of efficient, fluid movement without the mechanized motion of earlier technologies.

Do artists have a right to a prominent and engaged presence in public life?

Ask Bill Ivey, who penned the Cultural Bill of Rights during his tenure as the chair of the National Endowment for the Arts. His advocacy for a greater role for culture and creativity in our national dialogue inspired President Obama to appoint Ivey to lead his transitional team on arts and the humanities.

Ivey is joined by cultural critic Lewis Hyde for a dialogue about the social value of the arts, of the cultural commons, and how policy and theory should ensure open access to creative work.

In this new body of work, Rucci engages abstraction and offers us unadulterated access into his private celebration of life.

Michelle Dovey has been painting trees and landscapes for several years. In this new body of work she presents a series of landscape scenes that have been created from memory and which do not depict specific places. In previous work, Dovey explored the use of trees in the work of eighteenth century painters such as George Stubbs, JMW Turner, and Antoine Watteau. If these new fictional landscapes are reminiscent of earlier artistic traditions it is because Dovey has internalized a formal vocabulary and is now using it to create paintings that express deeply personal, yet universal emotions.

LeBasse Projects is proud to announce the release of Yoskay Yamamoto's gallery edition 'Koibito' vinyl sculpture. Originally produced by Munky King, the white and chrome gallery edition sculpture will be released in an edition of 150. The release party will also feature the release of an Exhibition Catalog of Yamamoto's current solo exhibtion, 'Hello and Goodbye,' as well as a new print from the show.

This will be the artist's second major solo exhibition, and will mark his largest body of work to date both in size and scale. The show represents a breakthrough in work from Yamamoto, and will reflect a continuation of intimate statements of self-expression that began in his last exhibition 'The Upside of Down.'

Yoskay Yamamoto will be in attendance to sign sculptures and catalogs. There will be a series of additional surprises for guests of the show as this will be the last evening to view Yamamoto's exhibition before it closes on May 28th.
