Malcolm McNeill and William S. Burroughs:
The Lost Art of Ah POOK IS HERE
Track 16 is pleased to present the west coast premiere of “The Lost Art of Ah POOK IS HERE,” paintings, drawings, and prints from the unfinished Word/Image novel Ah POOK IS HERE: a remarkable seven-year collaboration between author William S. Burroughs and artist Malcolm McNeill.
McNeill has published an accompanying exhibition catalogue (signed and numbered) with full color images. It features an interview with McNeill by Reality Studio in 2007 (the leading US Burroughs website), and includes a brief history of the project as well as Burroughs’ references to it in interviews. It considers the effect on Burroughs' career had Graphic Novels existed at that time. It also includes illustrations of other Burroughs texts and an excerpt from McNeill’s history of Ah Pook – Observed While Falling.
He has also published a limited edition jigsaw puzzle. The Puzzle is called "Ah POOK IS HERE." The image is a detail from the 25 foot by 24 in. artwork which was the last completed for the book. It is the same size as the original – 18 x 24 in. and has 672 pieces. The box contains the puzzle, a brief history of the project, an invitation to the exhibition and an Ah Pook 2012 card.
