Fecal Face Dot Gallery is pleased to announce the opening of The Ambush, a mural installation and limited edition over-sized print release, by San Francisco based artist Jeremy Fish. Exploring themes of power, greed, ego and revenge, Fish illustrates a rise-to-power story, ending in ultimate revenge and triumph for the underdog.
One half of the gallery will be devoted to the mural, which incorporates wooden relief elements, with the remaining half highlighting the oversized print (limited edition of 30 on sale at the opening).
"There once was a gladiator, who once was a hero and became a real tyrant; drunk on greed and power," Says Fish, "His path of destruction became so vast that eventually his prey began to organize an uprising. It is this sense of strength in numbers to avenge an evil dictator that becomes the central theme of the show." Using a system of cut and painted wood panels integrated with, and extending from the mural, The Ambush serves a visual reminder of the consequences of unconditional power, and the strength that all us "little people" have to organize a beatdown of grand proportions. The moral lesson being that as power and ego begin to run your life, never forget the little people who got you to where you are. If you do, they just may get organized, plan an ambush, and hand you your ass.
A long time Fecal Face favorite, Fish launches his first solo show at Fecal Face Dot Gallery not only with a large scale installation, but also experimenting with new paint schemes and techniques. A large scale screen print accompanies the mural, limited to an edition of 30, printed by Nat Swope of Bloom Press in Oakland, CA.
