Printed Matter, Inc. is pleased to announce its participation in the third annual Japanese Young Artists' Book Fair, which takes place at various sites throughout New York City from February 15 – March 8, 2009. Printed Matter is located in New York City at 195 Tenth Avenue (between 21st and 22nd Street).
Sponsored by Tokyo-based gallery Pepper's Projects, the Fair features a wide range of handmade books by over 100 artists. The artists featured at Printed Matter are Julie Morita, Yu Taguchi, Chika Suzuki, Chinatsu Torii, Miho Sugiura, Yu Xiaodan, Akari Iwasaki, Fumika Koizumi, and Shuko Miura.
Other sponsors of the Fair include Kinokuniya Bookstore, St. Marks Book Shop, and Spoonbill & Sugartown. The primary location is the Kinokuniya Bookstore, which is presenting all participating artists' books, with selections showcased at the other participating organizations. This is the third year that Printed Matter has participated in the Japanese Young Artists' Book Fair.
Since 1998, PEPPER'S PROJECT has organized a large number of themed exhibitions to present the work of young Japanese artists working in a variety of genres and media. In 2006, the gallery began organizing exhibitions in various cities outside of Tokyo as part of its outreach programming and the Fair is an extension of this mission.
