Coping Mechanisms is about our collective addictions to coffee, pills, food and oil. Well...and music!
Jeff Klarin and Rebecca Johnson are designers and fine artists based in Los Angeles. Their company, BUGHOUSE, has provided graphic design for entertainment ,advertising and top music clients for over 10 years. Their work is dark-humored and inspired by comics, vintage ephemera, pharmaceuticals and music paraphernalia.
Recently they have been featured in the Los Angeles Times and have installed a collection of wall pieces for the new Grammy Museum offices and green room. Bughouses' custom tables and lights - such as representations of DJ turntables, vinyl records and hypodermics - are meant to subvert the typical expectations placed on functional objects. Their line of steampunk jewelry, Curiosa, melds punk spikes and antique watches.
They have a growing clientele of entertainment and music professionals and produce custom pieces for commercial and residential installation.
