POOL - Photography Exhibition by Taro Hirano

Taro Hirano is a photographer and a skater, living in Tokyo.
He published a photo book titled "POOL" in 2005, a collection of landscape-style photos of pools in America. Taro always thought pool skating was just one of old way of skating, but after encountering a pool skater it changed his perspective.
"His passion for skateboarding was beyond my imagination. He searches for new pools by cessna from above, because they are hard to find from the ground. In the empty pools that he took me to, I saw the America I like and the America I pity."
"Pools where you can skate are usually at houses that have been abandoned. The skateboarders in such abandoned places are like a ray of light. I find it very sleek how they look at ideas from a different angle and put it into action."
Taro will fly in from Tokyo for the opening, which will exhibit his photography of nine pools.
