Bert Green Fine Art is pleased to present two solo shows by artists who are both having their second solo show at the gallery. Jeff Gillette's new body of work is a series of paintings which document a series of experimental interventions in the Southern California desert. Gillette manipulates "civilization's intrusion" into the natural landscape, as well as inserting his own, absurd cultural signifiers into the vast emptiness. Accompanying the exhibition is video of some of these experiments. Valérie Jacobs has had a 50 year career making art which uses social and political signifiers to gently inform the viewer of subtle relationships between potential and actual realities. Jacobs manipulates historical markers of peace and violence, knowledge and ignorance, corruption and compassion. These powerful, finely crafted images express a vast optimism and love of beauty in all things human.

In the Project Windows, Megan Geckler premieres a project titled "Set a course for wayward schemes," in which Geckler uses colored vinyl tapes and fluorescent light to optically alter space. The effect is kinetic and illusory, and the artist hopes to affect both pedestrians and motorists in the vicinity of the gallery; the measure of the success of the installation will be determined by any increase in fender-benders on Main Street. Richard Ankrom says of his "Untitled Tripod" "Film, television, and the computer monitor are the new canvases. Therefore red, blue and green, additive color, is the new color wheel. This is a homage to RGB."
