Alex & Chloe, the ever-mysterious design twosome, bring their namesake accessories line and avant-garde aesthetic to New High (M)art, the gallery-like retailer, for a 6-week Pop-Up store of their very own.
Known for their bold charms, shard-like pendants and other mirrored or blood-dripping iconic configurations, the enigmatic lovebirds will arrive bringing the shock of the new: their recently-debuted "Black Diamonds" collection, never-before-seen eyewear creations, and — freshly minted in time for Valentines Day — his & her silver rings as romantic as Alex & Chloe themselves. In addition to the expected metallic looks, watch out for neon pink, solid whites, spheres, and a stronger emphasis on luxury.
What isn't new, actually, is the influence of Alex & Chloe at New High (M)art. The two prior NH(M) alumni Brian Lichtenberg and Grey Ant presented pieces created in collaboration with Alex & Chloe during each of their respective tenures. "The enthusiastic response to those particular items was remarkable," says New High (M)art's T-RIK, who launched this revolutionary revolving-door retail concept with Miho Ikeda in November, 2007. "So when the time came to curate our next installment — the choice was obvious."
New High (M)art will once again completely re-purpose their 300-square foot Chinatown location to accommodate this next 6-week run. Working side-by-side with the brand on the store plan and merchandising, the final direction will prove just as distinctive as the product itself.
