The Arcanes represent, in Jack Hirschman’s vast poetic production, a fundamental and extraordinary element, the most advanced point of his questing. It comprises 126 long and orchestrated compositions, collected from more than thirty years of a particular poetic inquiry, which ground the political engagement and social themes, ever present in his poetry, with stormy leaps of mind, heart and soul, and personal events and references.

The volume is presented in its chronological development from 1972 to 2006, encompassing its entire output. In these works, fragments of poetic insight explode, from which the themes and images engaged by the poet emerge, which knowingly fuse reality with metaphysics, actuality with the memory of the past.

Yo Gabba Gabba is my favorite television show not on television. It's a crime these cool folks haven't found a production deal yet. They've got Biz Markie, beatboxer extraordinaire teaching beats-of-the-day to your babes! They've got awesomely hyped up tots yelling out their names and demonstrating a boogie down production I often do myself. And they've got ridiculously catchy songs about parties in your tummy! Please! The world needs more Yo Gabba Gabba. Finally, something for you and your spawn to love equally!

Best Casting Call Ever.

Spike Jonze is looking for a kid to cast as the lead in his new film. The film is the live screen adaptation of the classic children's book "Where the Wild Things Are" and he is hoping to find a young boy to play Max. Below are the specifics.

Max, and this boy, should be:
- 7-9 years old. Ideally, 8 years old. A 7-year-old would need to be pretty precocious. A 9-year-old couldn't be too tall/mature-looking.
- Sensitive, loving, lovable, smart, with a sense of humor.
- Playful, rambunctious, mischievous.
- He needs to be the sort of kid who's very creative but also very active -- the sort who might create an elaborate sand castle but also relish destroying it.
- Basically, he needs to be "all boy," just as Max is in the book.
- Dark hair is a plus.
- He should be natural -- unself-conscious, not too actorly

Call For Submissions: Short Non-Fiction

Dear Jammers and Creatives,

We're already hard at work on the next issue - #68, dedicated to creative non-fiction - and we're hoping that some of you will let us pick your brains. We're looking for 100 to 200 word, punchy, sad, crazy, or rude pieces inspired by a major event or epiphany in your life. It could be about anything really . . . a haiku, a poem, a travel remembrance, an anecdote about living in the post s11 era, a piece about discovering one of your family's dark secrets. We're looking for stories that provoke and that go straight to the heart, with a "slice of life" feeling to them.

We'd like to pepper these short pieces throughout our upcoming issue. One warning: the deadline is tight, so we need all submissions sent to by July 26th. If we decide to go with your submission, you'll get to see your name in print, and we'll also pay you 50 cents/word.

Remember: keep it short, keep it true, and fire it off to us as quickly as you can.
