FUNDRAISER PARTY FOR MARGI SCHARFF @ OVERTONES
SUNDAY, APRIL 23rd, 2006 7 – 11pm
Margi Scharff has traveled the world creating her road collages, visiting places like China, Laos, Thailand, Cambodia, India, Nepal, Bangladesh, Burma and Malaysia...making her art and bringing the cultures she visited closer to us. Her work was exhibited at OVERTONES in May 2005 and is a part of our growing flat file collection of contemporary art. On her most recent journey through Asia, Margi was diagnosed with stage four ovarian cancer. She has chosen to remain in India where she is receiving treatment and continuing to work on her art—including putting together a book of her road collages.
Margi is an inspiration to us—both as an artist and a person. For this reason, OVERTONES will host a benefit party to help raise funds for Margi’s mounting hospital bills, by way of offering her road collages for purchase, including those from her recent journey. Margi’s good friend and artist SE Barnet will also share some images and video from her recent visit with Margi in India. The party will be held at OVERTONES on Sunday, April 23rd, 2006; from 7—11pm. A 100% of the proceeds will go directly to Margi.
If you are unable to make the benefit party we encourage you to visit us during our regular gallery hours or make an appointment—our flat files houses a large selection of Margi’s work and we would be happy to share it with you anytime.
