BRAZIL EVENT IN LA
Ginga
RES is hosting a special installment of its monthly screening series in Los Angeles this week, dedicated to the celebration of contemporary Brazilian art and culture. The event will feature the premiere of GINGA: The Soul of Brazilian Football, a new documentary film from the producers of City of God. We will also be screening a selection of the best shorts, music videos and motion graphics from RESFEST Brazil. Special guests representing the cultural wealth of Brazil will include filmmaker Marcelo Machado, designers Lobo and artists Os Gemeos. The screening will be followed by a party offering Brazilian food and drinks, as well as music courtesy of DJs Diplo (recently renowned for his Brazilian booty-bass mix Favelas on Blast) and Sergio Mielniczenko. The night gets started at 8:00 pm at the Egyptian Theatre (6712 Hollywood Blvd, Hollywood).
If you're a subscriber of RES ALERT and would like to attend this special free event, you qualify for an invite. If you have not signed up for RES ALERT, you can do so here.
If you're not in LA and can't attend, you can still get a taste of the event's flavor by picking up a copy of the brand new RES, which also includes a celebation of Brazilian art and culture with a story on the making of GINGA, notes on the latest in Brazilian design and an interview with street muralists Os Gemeos.
